MOGADISHU ( Halbeeg News) – The government of Somalia has dismissed a senior staff at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs after he called for normalizing diplomatic relations with the state of Israel.
Abdullahi Dhool, who was the director at the ministry of foreign affairs said there is nothing wrong with opening diplomatic channels with Tel Aviv in a tweeter post.
“I too support diplomatic ties between Somalia and Israel. It is long due,” Dhool said in his Twitter page on Thursday last week.
“Establishing diplomatic relations does not harm anyone but promote peace and cooperation.” He added in the post that was later deleted.
Confirming the dismissal, Somali president communications director, Abdinur Mohamed Ahmed said any government official who disrespects the Palestinian freedom struggle will not be tolerated as well allowed to be part of the Federal Government of Somalia.
“There will be no diplomatic relations with Israel so long it continues to occupy the holy city of Jerusalem and keeps Palestinians in an open like prison of Gaza,” Villa Somalia communications director said, adding “Anyone who shares similar sentiment cannot and will not be part of the government of Somalia,” he added in his tweet post.
The development comes just weeks after Foreign Affairs Ministry recalled envoy to Geneva, Fatuma Abdullahi Insaniya following abstention on UN Human Rights vote condemning Israeli illegal occupation of the Golan Heights.
