MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somalia government has expressed its concern about growing restrictions targeting its citizens travelling to neighboring Kenya.
Nairobi bound flight from Mogadishu was on Monday halted in Wajir for hours before it was allowed to continue its journey to Kenyan capital the following day.
” Somalia’s Transport and Aviation ministry expresses its concern about the delay of passengers in Wajir International Airport.” Minister Mohamed Omar said in a statement on Tuesday in his social media page.
Kenyan immigration officials at the airport in Wajir informed the African airlines crew transiting over 100 passengers that their journey was cut short due to stop of the airport operations.
According to sources security check at the airport re-imposed by the Nairobi has consumed a lot of time and is the main reason that led to the connection to Jomo Kenyatta Airport.
On his part, Somalia’s Transport and Aviation Minister, Mohamed Omaar said officials at Adden Abdulle Airport in Mogadishu are investigating the reason as to why the plane didn’t take off early from Mogadishu.
The diplomatic ties between Mogadishu and Nairobi are at all time low over the disputed maritime border case that is expected to be decided by ICJ court on August.
