Somali security forces on Tuesday night conducted massive security operations in Mogadishu a time the city is hosting high level security forum which convened by federal and regional leaders.
Hundreds of security forces deployed
Vigilant security forces were deployed in several parts of Hodan district to comb houses suspected to be sanctuary for Al-shabaab members.
Speaking during the operation, Mogadishu deputy governor in charge of security, Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed said the operation was meant to beef up the security of the capital which has been experiencing attacks and assassinations in recent past.
“In fact, I appreciate the way the security forces conducted this operation, the forces maintained the code of conduct during the operation. The operation was only aimed at hunting down the enemy of Somali people,” said Mohamed.
I his part, Hodan district commissioner, Mohamed Ahmed Antobo welcomed the operation saying security operations in his district would be continuous.
The move comes amid tight security in the capital and lockdown of some roads ahead of the celebrations to mark president Farmajo’s one year in office.
Among the roads closed roads are Makka Almukarama, Wadnaha Street, and KM4 junction.
President, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo who completed one in office is expected to announce the achievements of his government on Thursday.
