Harardhere, (Halbeeg News) – Somali National Army on Wednesday said it had recaptured a major Al-Shabaab stronghold at Baraag Ali-Gaduud situated 50 kilometers west of Harardhere, in southern Mudug.
According to Military officials overseeing the operation, the bases were being used by the militants as hideouts to plan attacks against civilians in the region.
The officials added that the operation had effectively disrupted Al-Shabaab’s ability to launch attacks in the surrounding areas.
The Somali National Forces have been carrying out targeted operations in Mudug region for the past two years and the capture of Baraag Ali-Gaduud represents a tactical win and a strategic advancement in the broader objective of securing the region.
The operation highlights the growing cooperation between government troops and local militias, a collaboration that has become increasingly vital in the fight against Al-Shabaab.
