MOGADISHU ( Halbeeg News) – FC Elman coach Mayanja Roberio, a citizen from Ugandan converted to Islam in Somali capital, Mogadishu.
Mr. Roberio announced his conversion during Friday prayers and he was renamed Issa (Jesus) as requirement for new converts in Islam on the name of their choice.
The ceremony was led by popular cleric Sheikh Abdulhayi Sheikh Adan shortly after weekly Friday sermon and congregation prayers.
Roberio now Issa joined the club in 2016 and moved to Hegan FC as manager before rejoining his former club Elman FC last year.
Established in 1993, the club enjoyed successful record with closely rivals Banadir Telcom now renamed Mogadishu city club.
