MOGADISHU ( Halbeeg News) – Somali Foreign Minister, Ahmed Isse Awad, and Chinese ambassador, Qin Jian discussed ways to boost bilateral cooperation between the two friendly states.
The two-sided meeting at Foreign Affairs Ministry headquarters in Mogadishu on Saturday also discussed trade and investment, strengthening the exchange of experiences and available techniques and other political and security issues.
China and Somalia share historic diplomatic ties and backed by major development projects established in the country in the early 1970s including the Stadium Mogadishu and Somali National Theatre.
On Wednesday last week, the Chinese government handed over USD 10 million worth of food to the Somali government.
The food items include 4400 MT of rice from China, 1,000 MT of locally produced maize, 700 MT of pulses, 350 MT of vegetable oil, and 115 MT of specialized nutritious food.
