MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somali Minister for Finance, Abdirahman Duale Beileh has participated in African Development Bank’s Annual Meetings in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.
Bank’s 2019 Annual Meetings with the theme: “Regional Integration for Africa’s Economic Prosperity.” which kicked off last Wednesday ended yesterday.
During the meeting, the minister met several leaders both from the bank and other countries attending the event.
In an interview with CNBC TV, the minister said Somalia shared with the participants the vast investment opportunities in Horn of Africa nation.
The minister also held talks with AfDB Group President Akinwumi Adesina on Somalia’s progress towards debt relief and normalisation of operational relations with the International Financial Institutions.
He urged the bank leader to take part in the state building process in Somalia, which is recovering from civil war.
“We agreed that both sides continue their effort in moving Somalia forward AfDBAM2019,” he said.
President of the African Development Bank AfDB, Akinwumi Adesina on Friday at the closing ceremony of the meeting announced that the bank is safe and sound in terms of Finance.
He noted that the shareholders of the Bank are impressed with the work done with Regional Integration in the continent.
“At the end of the day, what is important in this annual meeting is what the head of states said. Their very strong presence here, the chairperson of the African Union Commission, Faki was here what did that say? What that basically tells you is that AfDB is at the core of accelerating development,” he said.
