MOGADISHU ( Halbeeg News) – The Minister of Finance, Abdirahman Duale Beyle opened two new tax collection offices in Mogadishu on Sunday.
Accompanied by the Governor of Banadir region and the mayor of Mogadishu, Omar Mohamed Mohamud, the minister officially opened the new revenue collection centers in Howlwadag and Hodan districts respectively which were not operational for more than two decades.
Five other tax collections centers are expected to be established in Banadir region in a bid to boost income revenue collections by the ministry of finance in a project supported by the World Bank and African development bank.
The mayor of Mogadishu, Omar Mohamed Mohamud who also spoke at the opening ceremony thanked the government for its efforts to strengthen revenue collection.
Meanwhile, the headquarters of the Somali police customs unit department which is under construction will be unveiled soon.
The increase of local revenue collections is one of the conditions set by the international monitory fund to Somalia for debt relief procedure
