GAROWE ( Halbeeg News) – Somali leaders from both the federal government and the regional states administrations convened in Garowe, the administrative capital of the Puntland regional state of Somalia.
President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo, Prime Minister, Hassan Ali Kheyre and host Said Abdullahi Deni will be meeting other regional state leaders from Southwest state, Abdulaziz Hassan Mohamed, Hirshabelle’s, Mohamed Abdi Warre and Galmudug leader, Ahmed Gelle Haf.
The leaders are expected to discuss the model of elections in the country in the upcoming 2020 general elections, economic recovery based on resource sharing and the emergency steps towards the ongoing drought and famine in the country.
The Prime Minister, Hassan Ali Kheyre held sideline meeting with some regional state leaders on Saturday evening before the main meeting.
Kheyre posted in his Twitter account that he had separate discussions with state administrations leaders from Puntland, Galmudug and southwest state and some traditional elders without elaborating the topic of the deliberations.
The gathering in Garowe dubbed consultation meeting was convened by Said Abdullahi Deni last month.
Deni said the meeting would discuss ways in which the federal government and members’ states can cooperate and strengthen their collaborations.
A similar meeting convened by President Farmaajo for state leaders on national security council failed to take place for an unspecified reason.
