MOGADISHU ( Halbeeg News) – Somalia’s education ministry has announced a new timetable for unified secondary schools’ examination on Sunday.
The exams were nullified earlier this month following leakage.
According to the minister, Abdullahi Godax Barre, the candidates will sit for the first paper on Monday 27 May.
“Unified national secondary examination will kick off across the country on Monday 27th,” the minister said. “Good luck to all candidates sitting for the exams.” He added.
Security has been beefed across all the examination centres to avoid cheating.
There are more than inspected 105 centres which will host the examiners 71 in the capital Mogadishu and 34 others in the regional state administrations.
More than 31,500 students have registered for the national exercise; however, students from Puntland regional state of Somalia will be part of unified examinations since the state administration turned down the offer and instead opted for its internal examination which just concluded.
Four students were wounded during the aftermath of protest that broke out after the ministry of education canceled the examination on 14 May.
The Somali police force has detained a suspect in connection to the leakage of the exams papers that were circulated mainly in the online social media sites.
