MOGADISHU(Halbeeg-News)-Somali chief justice, Bashi Yusuf Ahmed has vowed to start a crackdown on corrupt officials within the judiciary system in the country.
Bashi said his office has strong evidence about court officials engaging in corruption activities.
“We have enough evidence against judges involving in bribery activities within the judiciary system,” Bashi said. “We are conducting constant follow up, and we will fight them.”
The chief justice who was speaking during a swearing-in ceremony of new judges in Mogadishu on Saturday has also strongly warned those he said are pursuing justice in armed group al-Shabaab courts.
“Some citizens seek justice from militant courts; we arrested and prosecuted some of them,” he said.
He added that dodging the legal system of the government for justice and pursuing just in the enemies court ( al-Shabaab) is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
“We want to inform loyal citizens that seeking justice from enemies’ court will not be tolerated, ” he said.
