NEW YORK ( Halbeeg News) – The President of Somalia, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and his Djibouti counterpart, Ismail Omar Gelle met in New York on Saturday.
The two leaders discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations between the two states as well as the horn of the African region peace and economic cooperation.
” The unconditional relations between Somalia and Djibouti is strongly backed by blood, brotherhood and history.” Villa Somalia Communications Director, Abdinur Mohamed tweeted following the meeting between President Farmajo and Gelle.
On the other hand, The Federal Government of Somalia expressed its full support to Republic of Djibouti bid for the United Nations Security Council seat that is to be decide by the UN members via vote in New York.
“The Federal Government of Somalia fully supports Republic of Djibouti bid for UN security council seat.” Villa Somalia assured.
Nairobi and Djibouti will contest for UN Security council seat to represent the East African region in the next two years starting from 2020.
The organization of the Islamic cooperation ( OIC), US, China, Japan and French speaking nations are expected to support the tiny red sea state interest for the crucial position.
