BARDERE (Halbeeg News)- Somali National Army (SNA) said its forces killed two al-Shabaab fighters and wounded three, following heavy fighting with the group in southern Somalia.
The forces on Monday carried out an attack on al-Shabab’s base in the outskirts of Bardhere town in Gedo region.
Abdi Aziz Ali Omar, deputy commander of SNA unit 49, said the military launched operations to flush out al-Shabaab from the region.
“During the operation, engaged in al-Shabaab fighters and inflicted heavy casualties on the extremists, killing two of them and injured three others,” Ali said.
The clashes between Somali army and al-Shabaab comes hours after Somali forces siezed villages from al-Shabaab fighters.
Al-Shabaab has not yet commented on the latest offensives and the loss of the villages to Somali Military.
