MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somali military has killed at least 8 militants following clashes in Middle Shabelle region.
According to the state-owned media, heavily armed al-Shabaab fighters stormed a military base near Adale town, prompting an hour-long clash. The military soldiers reportedly defeated al-Shabaab fighters.
Speaking to the media, Somali military chief, Odawa Yussuf Raghe said the forces managed to kill eight al-Shabaab fighters and capture number of others.
“The military defeated the militants, their bodies lie on the battle ground and operation still ongoing,” he said.
Al-shabaab which controls large territories of the country carries out hit and run attacks on military base in southern and central Somalia.
The group also carries out deadly bomb attacks in major towns, the latest being one which targeted a restaurant on Friday evening.
At least seven people were killed in the attack happened at a popular in Mogadishu.
