Mogadishu (Halbeeg News) – At least 18 al-Shabaab fighters have been killed and several others wounded after clashes with Somali National Army forces.
In a statement, Somali Information Ministry said the government forces launched operations against al-Shabaab in Budbud and Gal’ad towns in Galgaduud region.
“The national army carried out operations against al-Shabaab controlled areas, the forces seized the bases of al-Shabaab and killed 18 militants,” Somali Deputy Information Minister, Abdirahman Al-Adale.
Among those killed are said to be senior al-Shabaab commanders.
The minister said his government will hunt down al-Shabaab fighters and liberate all areas under the group’s control.
SNA, regional forces, and international partners are committed to eradicating terrorists throughout the country as soon as possible, the minister said.
