Galkayo, (Halbeeg News) – The Somali National Army have said it killed 10 Al-Shabaab militants during an operation in Southern Mudug region.
According to the Minister of Defence, the operation was carried out in the early hours of Tuesday and the army are in pursuit of the remnants of the militants.
The ministry added that an Al-Shabaab base were destroyed near Qeycad village, which is believed to have been used by the militants to plan and execute attacks against the civilian population in the area.
The operation comes as the Somali National Army intensifies its operations against the group which has seen several areas previously occupied by the militants liberated.
The federal government of Somalia has reiterated its commitment to continue its war against Al-Shabaab in a bid to restore peace and stability in all parts of Somalia.
