MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somali military said it is determined to continue advancing into Harardhere, the last al-Shabaab stronghold in the Mudug region.
The government forces in the Mudug region are in the last preparation to attack the town which is al-Shabaab’s stronghold town in Mudug region.
According to military officials who spoke to the media, the government forces recaptured several villages along Harardhere town.
Somali forces backed by the clan militias on Sunday captured Masagawa town. The town has been under the control of al-Shabaab for the past 15 years.
In a statement, SNA said its forces killed dozens of al-Shabaab fighters during the operation to liberate Masagawa town.
Recently, the Somali government has intensified operations against Al-Shabaab fighters in central Somalia.
The government recaptured towns in Hiiraan, Middle Shabelle and Galgaduud regions following fierce fighting with al-Shabaab fighters.
