MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somali National Army (SNA) said its forces have destroyed al-shabaab bases following security operations in central Somalia.
Mohamed Tahlil Bihi, SNA Infantry commander, said the 21st Division of SNA took control of al-shabaab controlled villages in in Galgaduud region.
“The bases were completely destroyed and terrorists suffered huge casualties,” Tahlil told the state-owned Somalia National Television in Mogadishu.
The commander without giving out further details, said the forces inflicted heavy casualties on the militants.
The operations took place on Wednesday and early Thursday.
Tahlil said the extremists were planning to carry out terror attacks in those regions.
He vowed that the troops will intensify operations against al-Shabab extremists in southern and central regions to liberate move regions.
