MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somali National Army (SNA) chief, General Odawaa Yussuf has vowed to take action against armed forces intermingling with politics amid tensions between Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble and President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo boiling up.
Odawaa has urged the forces execute their duties as per the rules of the armed forces.
“The Somali National Army cannot do anything about siding with certain groups or following certain ideologies. They can do things through solidarity, cohesion and awareness, ”said Gen Odawa.
The leader advised the officers to protect the unity of the nation, their sworn responsibilities, public trust and military values.
Remarks of the SNA boss comes two days after hundreds of troops loyal to Somalia’s Prime Minister Mohammed Hussein Roble camped near Villa Somalia following the suspension of Primier.
This week, President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo had suspended Roble over alleged corruption and misuse of public land, a move rejected by the prime minister.
Roble claimed he is the only one in the country who is legally responsible for all government institutions and called on military commanders to obey him.
