Twenty-five Somali Journalists have been convened in Baidoa town to join six month-long training courses, which started this week.
The course that was organized and implemented by Baidoa Radio will focus on ethics, responsibility of journalists, skills of Journalism and management.
Abdirahman Ibrahim Jiirow, the deputy director of Radio Baidoa said the workshop aims to build the capacity of the journalists in the State.
Jiirow noted that the trainees were drawn from different stations across in the region.
“We launched a training course on upgrading skills of journalists from Radio Baidoa and other journalists drawn from different stations. It will run for six months. They will be taught the media law, ethics, regulations of Radio Baidoa,” said Jiirow.
Abdullahi Isack Ganey, member of Southwest state Assembly who attended the opening of the ceremony has commended the workshop saying it will enhance the skills of journalists operating in Baidoa town.
“It is an important training course that will boost the skills of journalists and we welcome it,” said Ganey.
