MOGADISHU ( Halbeeg News) – The sixth session of Somali Lower House of parliament will commence on Wednesday this week.
A statement from the office of the speaker of the Lower house of parliament, Mohamed Murssal Sheikh ordered all members to avail themselves by the 7th of October to finalize the process of convening the significant session.
President, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo is scheduled to preside over the opening session as a constitutional requirement.
276 members of the house of the people will for the first time conduct their session at the newly built assembly hall inside Villa Somalia Palace.
The modern meeting hall which will be a temporary working space to conduct house business was constructed and refurbished by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA).
An agreement signed last year between the Somali government and Turkey will see TIKA rebuild the seven-story building to host Somali national assembly, office space for each member of the house and meeting halls.
The transformation process of the old parliament building will commence soon.
