NAIROBI (Halbeeg News) – At least five people including four women have been reportedly went missing Nairobi’s Somali dominated estate, Eastliegh in less than a week, with one of the women sending emotional appeal to the family.
Kenya security forces dispatched to search for a 23-year-old woman, identified as Hafsa Mohammed Lukman who allegedly kidnapped by unknown people from Kamukunji constituency in Nairobi.
Ms Lukman’s kidnappers sent a 35 seconds video featuring a woman believed to be Lukman who was blindfolded with both her hands and legs tied.
“I have been kidnapped, and they’re demanding ransom. Please, send it,” Lukman stated- her voice barely heard in the video due to the wounds and scars on her mouth.
She also had open wounds and scars- showing that she had been tortured by her abductors.
In the video, one of the men holding her tells her to speak to her sister.
The family made a missing person report at California police station in Eastleigh on June 15, when she went missing.
According to the police statement, the gang had been moving bases within Kayole, Nairobi, while making the demands.
Teams of police visited at least three sites that they thought the woman was being held in vain.
Hafsa was last traced at her shop on Tuesday, June 15, through CCTV footage.
Just as the news of Hafsa was doing round across the social media platforms, a new victim was reported missing.
Hafsa Abdulwahab was last seen at her watermelon store in Kayole. Family members said they reported the matter at the local Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI)
Cases of kidnapping have become rampant in the recent past with abductors going to extra lengths to ensure their hatched scheme comes to fruition.
Among the people who went missing are Hafsa Abdulwahaab, Umulkheyr Cismaan, Mohamud Mohamed Haji (Burte) and two other unnamed girls from Nairobi’s Eastliegh.
Yussuf Hassan, a lawmaker from constituency where most of the cases took place has condemned the abductions.
“Deeply concern at the spate of kidnappings, rising violence, & gender-based killings sweeping thru Kamukunji, which have sparked growing fear & panic in the community. I’ve written to the Inspector-General to take urgent & visible measures to protect civilians and,” the MP said in a twitter post. “Safeguard the security and wellbeing of the people and restore law & order in the neighbourhood. And to intensify efforts to hunt down and apprehend the culprits.”
These cases of the missing persons come days after Najma Abdullahi Maalim, 19, who went missing on June 9 was found dead at the Dongo Kundu Bypass Highway, Mombasa.
