At least seven people were burnt to death at Yaqshid district in Mogadishu after a fire gutted a home on Monday.
The fire which started at 3 a.m. burnt to death a mother and her five children and a visitor who were asleep in the house.
According to the neighbours, the bodies of the people burnt beyond recognition have been recovered from the debris.
Ahmed Ali, the head of the family who was sleeping outside the house said he was woken up by screams coming from the house at around 3am.
The father said he managed to save the mother of the family albeit she insisted to save her children leading her to sustain serious injuries.
The mother later succumbed to her injuries before she was taken to hospital.
The cause of the inferno was not immediately known.
Benadir Deputy Governor for Security and Political Affairs, Mohamed Abdullahi Tuleh who reached the scene condoled with the bereaved family saying the matter will be investigated by the local government of Mogadishu.
