MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – The government of Serbia has pledged to support Somalia improve the drainage system which had not been maintained for more than 30 years.
According to a statement, Somalia’s Ambassador to Serbia Mohamed Abdullahi Ahmed and the Mayor of Belgrade Aleksandar Šapić have signed the agreement following talks between the officials.
The agreement also illustrates several other development projects.
The officials agreed the two countries to collaborate in the expansion of their respective capitals Mogadishu and Belgrade.
According to the deal, engineers from the two countries will conduct a study on the drainage systems in Mogadishu and develop a plan to improve transportation and traffic management.
Speaking after the meeting, Mayor Šapić said the two countries will enhance their bilateral relations, particularly their two capitals
“Belgrade and Mogadishu had a long history of working closely together and we are ready to enhance the relationship and work for the betterment of the residents of these two cities,” Mayor Šapić said.
On his part, Ambassador Ahmed expressed his government’s commitment to strengthening the relationship between the two countries.
