Somali forces have gunned down two suspected Al-Shabab assassins in Bakaro Market of the Somali capital Mogadishu.
The suspects were shot dead by officers from National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), witnesses confirm.
A source who spoke to Halbeeg said the officers clashed with four suspects prompting brief gunfire.
“Armed men identified themselves as Security officers have been on the heel of four suspects. Two of the suspected men were gunned down as the rest escaped,” said the source.
The district commissioner of Hodan district Mohamed Ahmed Antobo has confirmed that NISA officers killed two suspects in Bakara market.
Somali security forces have been conducting operations to secure the city in the last two days.
The incident comes less than 24 hours after a young man armed with a pistol killed a police officer in Bakaro Market.
The responsibility for the attack was claimed by ISIS who later posted graphics of the killing on Facebook.
