GAROWE (Halbeeg News) – Security has been stepped up in Garowe, the administrative capital of Puntland regional state ahead of the inauguration ceremony of President Said Abdullahi Deni scheduled on Saturday.
Puntland Security minister, Ahmed Abdullahi Yusuf has urged residents of Garowe city to be extra vigilant and closely cooperate with the security agencies during the inauguration occasion slated for 26th January.
Dozens of delegates are already pouring into Garowe town to take part in the next week event as organizers are in the final stage.
Senior federal government officials led by President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo are expected to attend the inauguration.
Puntland President, Said Abdullahi Deni was elected on 8th January with 35 votes defeating his adjacent contender, General Asad Osman Diyano who garnered 31 votes.
He pledged to improve security and the economy as well as improving relations with the federal government.
