MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Second lawmaker hailing from Somaliland has been elected in Mogadishu to join the 11th parliament of Somalia ahead of the country’s presidential elections.
Bihi Iman Ige who had been the last parliament elected as MP in the just concluded exercise.
Ige got 92 votes while his opponent Abdirahman Hassan Ismail secured nine votes only.
Earlier in the day, Mahdi Guled, Somalia’s Deputy PM has faced off his only female opponent Mushtaq Ibrahim Yussuf.
According to the poll agency, Guled got 97 votes while his opponent got only three votes. Somaliland has 61 seats in the Lower House.
