MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – .Saudi Arabia has appointed a new ambassador to Somalia in a bid to enhance Saudi presence in the Horn of African nation.
In a statement, Saudi foreign ministry said Ahmed Bin Mohamed Al-Muwallad as their new ambassador to Somalia.
The statement noted that Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud swore in the new Saudi ambassador on Saturday.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Deputy Foreign Minister Walid bin Abdul Karim Al-Khuraji and Khaled bin Faisal Al-Sahli, Assistant Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
Somalia’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Salim Maow Haji, recently presented his credentials to Saudi King Salman Bin Abdiaziz.
The new envoy is expected to arrive in the capital Mogadishu soon, and Saudi Arabia is expected to open its embassy in Somalia this year officially.
