MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somalia’s Ministry of Finance handed over vehicles to regional states in the country in an effort to facilitate tax collection.
Finance Minister, Abdirahman Duale Beyle delivered the vehicles to the representatives of Banadir, Hirshabelle and Southwest state respectively during a ceremony held in the capital, Mogadishu on Monday.
“Today we delivered seven vehicles to the regional states in a bid to accelerate their tax collection as per request we received from the states earlier.” Minister Beyle said.
Hirshabelle state received three vehicles, Southwest state two cars while Banadir administration got two vehicles.
Beyle said the Ministry of Finance will provide a similar number of vehicles to the remaining regional states in the country in forthcoming weeks.
The government of President Abdullahi Farmajo and Prime Minister Kheyre has embarked on institutional economic reform as per the requirement of the World Bank in the depth cancelation process.
According to the International Financial Organization, local income tax has increased in the past two years.
