MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – A regional lawmaker from Somalia’s Galmudug state has died in Mogadishu after days of illness.
According to relatives and the speaker of Galmudug parliament, Ahmed Sheikh Yussuf Galti has passed away this morning at Erdogan Hospital where he was undergoing treatment of unspecified disease.
“Ahmed Sheikh Yussuf died this morning at the hospital. He was sick whole this week,” said a relative who confirmed the death to a local radio station in Mogadishu.
It is not yet clear what kind of disease the lawmaker was suffering from.
In a separate statement, Mohamed Ga’al Nur, the speaker of Galmudug parliament has extended condolences to the family and relatives of the decease.
He said the lawmaker was a good person and he took part in various activities in the second parliament of Galmudug.
Galmudug leader, Ahmed Abdi has also sent condolences to the family saying the lawmaker was hardworking person who took part in Galmudug’s state formation process.
“I send my deepest condolences to the family and relatives of the late Ahmed Sheikh Yusuf (Galti) who passed away. May Allah shower him with His love and may he find peace in jannah,” the leader said.
Ahmed was among the lawmakers who elected the incumbent leader of Galmudug, Ahmed Abdi Qoor-qoor.
