MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Qatari government has condemned a suicide bomb attack that hit a security checkpoint near Somalia’s presidential palace in Mogadishu.
In a statement, Qatari foreign ministry has extended condolences to the families and loved ones of those killed in suicide bomb explosion on Saturday.
The statement reiterated Qatar’s firm position of rejecting violence and terrorism, regardless of the motives and reasons.
On Saturday, at least seven were killed and more than nine other wounded after a suicide car bombing targeted a security checkpoint near the presidential palace in Mogadishu.
A vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) targeted several vehicles waiting to pass through the security checkpoint between Waberi and Hamarweyne districts near Villa Somalia.
Several vehicles have been destroyed in the blast. The checkpoint is the one used by Somalia’s president and prime minister on their way to and from the airport in Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu.
