GAROWE (Halbeeg News) – Puntland state in Somalia’s northeastern region has welcomed new round of talks to discuss the situation of the country.
In a statement, Puntland leader, Saed Abdullahi Deni said his administration would take part in the talks but suggested the forum to be held in Somali capital.
The leader also proposed that federal government increase the participants of the forum, saying the meeting should invite other political stakeholders and international community.
“Puntland welcomes the proposed 15th Feb consultative meeting. The mandate of the #FGS ended on 8th Feb; therefore, the Govt of Puntland suggests that the consultative meeting should be held in Mogadishu with participation of FMS, political stakeholders & Int’l partners,” Deni said.
The remarks of the leader comes hours after president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo called for consultative forum in Garowe town.
The president said the meeting between federal and regional leaders will focus on 17-Sep agreement over elections.
