GAROWE (Halbeeg News) – Puntland region state of Somalia has pardoned 121 inmates on Sunday.
Puntland deputy leader, Ahmed Elmi Karash, pardoned the convicts in a decree letter issued last evening.
The move is part of the blessings and good gesture towards the holy month of Ramadan, which has been a practice across the country.
The convicts were selected from various prison facilities across northeastern regional administration.
It is not clear if the prisoners of war from self-declared of Somaliland are part of the inmates pardoned by Elmi Karash administration.
Somaliland leader Muse Bihi Abdi also pardoned prisoners of war from Puntland as a sign of peace last week shortly after the 28th anniversary of the unrecognized state.
They were captured during clashes in the disputed town of Tukaraq last year.
