Basaso, (Halbeeg News) – Puntland State of Somalia regional leader Said Abdullahi Deni and his delegation is set to visit Bosaso, the capital of Bari region to evaluate development and security situation in the capital city.
Sources privy to the regional leader’s itinerary intimated that Deni’s visit is aimed at accelerating the war against terrorist groups operating in the region including Al-Shabaab and the Daesh, which is based at the mountainous area of the Bari region.
Recently, the Puntland administration announced plans to launch a comprehensive military campaign aimed at eradicating the remnants of the Islamic State in Somalia and Al-Shabaab fighters from their hideouts in the mountains of Bari and Sanaag.
Other areas that will be targeted in the operations are the Al-Madaw and Al-Miskaad mountains.
Deni’s visit comes amid tension between the PSF and Puntland forces in Bosaso, as a result of a recent standoff at the Bosaso airport.
