MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – An advance delegation and security team from Puntland state will today travel in Dhusameeb town of central Somalia.
According to sources, the officials pave the way for the arrival of delegation led by Puntland state leader, Saed Abdullahi Deni.
The leader is expected to join leaders of Federal government and Member State to participate Dhusameeb-3 meeting.
The meeting which kicked off two days ago is expected to deliberate on a compromise electoral model and the way forward for Somalia’s elections.
The development comes barely a day after International community called in leaders of Jubbaland state and Puntland states who have yet to join the meeting to directly engage with their colleagues in Dhusamareb to resolve any outstanding issues in order that all may participate.
The partners said summit is critical to sustain the consensus-building process and produce a broad-based agreement on modalities for the 2020/21 federal elections that satisfy all Somali stakeholders.
Last month, the leaders of the federal and state governments of Somalia agreed to form joint technical committee since federal Member State leaders had ruled out the possibility of one-man-one-vote elections to be held on time.
The leaders called for an alternative, inclusive model to be implemented before the government’s mandate expires.
