Mogadishu (Halbeeg News) – Federal government of Somalia president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has reiterated his commitment to strengthen the country’s federal system.
Speaking during a function to mark various achievements in his government in Mogadishu Saturday, president Mohamud stated that the federation, which he views as a consensual framework for governance, is crucial for the nation’s progress.
The president cautioned Somalis over the negative impacts of tribalism in government institutions, religion and public affairs sectors calling for unity and collaboration to ensure effective governance.
President Mohamud at the same time acknowledged the successes of his administration saying he is committed to further steer the country further to prosperity through various ambitious development plans.
He also noted that that one of the critical areas of focus for the remainder of his administration’s term is the upcoming elections, which the government aims to conduct on the basis of “one person, one vote”, which he said marks a significant step towards enhancing democratic governance in Somalia.
