Mogadishu (Halbeeg News) – Federal Government of Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud Sunday launched the annual conference of the Somali Bankers Associations, focusing on investments, growth of infrastructure, and initiatives aimed at managing financial system in the country.
Speaking during the function, President Mohamud commended the traders’ efforts in country’s development and urged them to be responsible in paying taxes, keeping the regulations and strengthening the statehood, in order, to get lasting peace which could lead developed businesses and foreign investment.
“The Statehood is principles and enforcing rules, and in order, to get it, you must pay taxes. The government cannot operate without taxation. We commend banks and telecommunication institutions,” the president said.
He further stated that anyone who evades payment of tax violates the country’s laws and hence commits a crime and will be arrested.
