Mogadishu, (Halbeeg News) – Somali president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud Tuesday laid the foundation stone for a grand real estate project in Mogadishu, which is being developed through the investment of Somali entrepreneurs.
The project, named ‘Xeebta-luulka’ meaning Diamond Beach consists of residential houses that can accommodate 50,000 people, with amenities such as multiple business complexes, schools, health centers, mosques, and leisure centers.
President Mohamud who spoke after the function urged the Somali entrepreneurs to continue investing in the country so as to spur development and improve the lives of the Somali people.
“The construction of this neighborhood is the beginning of a new Somalia that is reshaping its government and competing with the world. Somali businessmen should trust their country and stand by the government by paying their due taxes, so that we can recover from the problems we have suffered,” the President said.
President Mohamud thanked the businessmen for investing in their country and bringing projects that are meaningful to the Somali people, and he also urged them to support their government so that we reach an era of self-reliance.
