Mogadishu (Halbeeg News) – Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is today expected to chair a high-level consultation meeting which is set to commence in Mogadishu.
According to a statement by Villa Somalia, the forum will bring together former Somali Presidents, Prime Ministers, and other senior politicians to discuss the country’s recent political developments and counter-terrorism Operations.
During the meeting, which will run for three days, President Mohamud will listen to the leaders’ concerns regarding the current state-building efforts, security, the eradication of al-Shabab, constitutional revisions, democratization, and elections.
“President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud invited former Somali leaders for a consultative meeting to share achievements, challenges, and future plans. The president will hear the insights of former leaders on security, counterterrorism, completion of the constitution review and democratization,” the statement reads in part.
Several formerly served premiers, presidents, and ministers have already accepted the invitation of President Mohamud.
The immediate Former President, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, did not arrive in Mogadishu, but sources privy to the meeting say Farmajo may participate in the meeting via Zoom.
