MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has vowed to dismantle enemies of Somalia.
Speaking at a meeting with officials from Somali National Army (SNA) said the country is facing external and internal enemies trying to destabilise Somalia.
He pointed out that unspecified enemies work on derailing gains achieved so far.
“This country has enemies from outside and inside who merge to destabilise the country. They do not want to Somalia to stand on its own feet,” the president said.
President Farmajo noted that there are individuals who want to control Somalia by using some mercenaries.
“There enemies who are powerful and aiming at means to control the country investing internal enemies,” he stated.
The move comes amid Somalia is facing internal and external challenges including the forces mutiny and maritime dispute with Kenya.
Kenya and Somalia had had a protracted dispute over a maritime boundary which escalated in 2014 when Somalia sued Kenya at the International Court of Justice.
Late 2017, Somalia won its first bid to resolve a case over a maritime dispute before the ICJ.
Judges at the ICJ dismissed claims fronted by Kenya’s lawyers that there exists an alternative method of resolving the matter.
Somalia wants the court to demarcate the maritime boundary, and to determine the exact geographical coordinates as an extension of its southern borders.
