BAIDOA(Halbeeg-News)- President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has called upon the leader of southwest regional state of Somalia, Abdulaziz Hassan Mohamed alias Lafta Gareen to fulfil the expectations of the residents of the regional administration.
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony of the Southwest leader in Baidoa on Wednesday, president Farmajo congratulated the new regional leader while reminding the high expectations of the residents mainly in the areas of peace and security.
The president also stressed the importance of close working relations between federal government and regional member states in the country.
“We don’t need unnecessary suspension of working relations every now and then between the federal government and state administrations, that will damage our reputation as a country.” The president said.
Adding “We are one nation and one people working to improve the lives of our citizens because that is why we are in office.”
On his side, Southwest president, Lafta Gareen pledged to improve basic services and establish reconciliation forum to bring together warring sides in the state.
“I will embark on improving the health sector and access to clean water during my tenure.” He said.
Representatives from regional administrations, members of the federal parliament led by speaker Mohamed Mursal and agents from international community such as IGAD attended the colourful ceremony held at the presintial palace of Southwest in Baidoa.
