MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – President Mohamed Farmaajo and the leader of Southwest state Abdiaziz Lafta-Gareen will today hold talks in Mogadishu amid stand off between Somali government and the opposition over election process.
The two who met last night in Villa Somalia will have discussion over the current situation of the country including the elections, security and development projects.
Though no official statement was issued by Villa Somalia, reliable sources say the leaders talked long time last night.
The development comes days after the Heritage Institute’s three-day Forum for Ideas and Consultation concluded was concluded in Garowe town.
The conference was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister of Somalia, Speakers of both Houses of the Parliament, former Somali presidents and three Heads of State, Civil Society Organizations as well as other politicians and intelectuals.
The sides discussed ways to resolve the current political impasse and electoral process which opposed by the opposition leaders.
Somali is expected to hold elections this year, with process to elect senators slated for early this month.
