MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has been invited for a visit to Turkey for a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as he continues to cement country’s relationship with Turkey.
Villa Somalia Friday announced that the Head of State had been invited by Mr. Erdoğan for the official visit set for August 18.
According to a post on Villa Somalia official twitter account, the two leaders will discuss good bilateral relationships between the two countries and plans to boost among other sectors, security, trade, and investment.
During his stay in Turkey, President Farmajo will attend the next weekend’s congress of Turkey’s ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party.
Fifty-one heads of state have also been invited to attend the AK party’s 6th Ordinary Congress.
AK Party deputy chair, Mustafa Atas told Anadolu Agency that other than the heads of state, senior officials of foreign diplomatic missions and NGO representatives were also invited to the Congress, set to be held in the capital Ankara on August 18.
He said they are planning to hold a well-organized congress with extensive participation.
The congress will also mean the start of work on local elections set for March 2019, Atas said.
“In this Congress, our chairman will find a suitable ground to share goals regarding the local elections with the public,” Atas added.
Atas said they are taking all measures to ensure a smooth congress, adding that the party has over 1,400 delegates.
