MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somali president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo is expected to travel to Djibouti for a meeting in the forthcoming hours.
According to sources privy to the trip, the president will be attending a meeting organised by Inter-governmental Authority on Development (IGAD) to discuss the severed relations between Somalia and Kenya.
It is not yet clear whether Kenyan president Uhuru Kenyatta will be attending the conference.
Somalia had last month cut diplomatic ties with Kenya after Kenya was accused of interfering Somalia’s internal affairs.
Both countries traded accusations with Somalia labelling Kenya as threat to its security.
Somalia filed complaint against Kenya saying the East Africa nation armed militias’ to attack Beled-Hawa town.
According to the letter sent to IGAD last month, Kenya allegedly hosted fighters led by Abdirashid Janan who last March engaged in fighting with Somali army near Somalia-Kenya border.
IGAD formed a fact-finding committee to assess the situation at the border of the countries.
The commission which visited both Mandera and Beled-Hawa, border towns in Kenya and Somalia respectively will be presenting their reports at IGAD meeting.
