BAIDOA (Halbeeg News) – President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo together with the leader of Southwest state has held a meeting with the elders in the region in Baidoa on Thursday.
The meeting which was held at Baidoa presidential palace focused on how to spearhead peace and reconciliation efforts in the regional state as well as consultations regarding the liberation of areas still under the control of the Al-Shabab fighters.
The head of state who is on his second-day visit to region appreciated the vital role of the elders and community leaders in the peace-building and stability procedure in the country.
The visit of the president comes just one month after violent clashes erupted in Baidoa following the arrest of former Al-Shabaab deputy leader Mukhtar Robow.
More than ten people including a regional lawmaker were reported to have died in the skirmishes in Baidoa.
