MOGADISHU ( Halbeeg News) – Somali President, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo held meeting with the heads of the security chiefs on Friday.
The meeting follows Wednesday suicide attack on Mogadishu municipality office in which six governmental officials were killed and several critically wounded including the mayor of Mogadishu, Abdirahman Omar Osman.
The security chiefs briefed the head of state on the progress of the ongoing investigations of the attack.
The President directed the security apparatus in the country to come up with a durable security strategy to deal with sympathizers that have links with the armed group within the government system.
“It is not possible to give safe haven to the sympathizers of a terror group that terrorizes our people.” The Director of communications at Villa Somalia, Abdinur Mohamed Ahmed told the media, after the meeting.
“We need to come up with a strategy to deal with such elements.” Mr. Ahmed added.
The President who was also updated about the situation of citizens wounded in the attack wished a quick recovery for the injured.
More than 12 critically wounded citizens in most recent attacks in Mogadishu, Bosaso, and Kismayo were airlifted to Qatar for further medical attention on Thursday, according to a statement from villa Somalia.
