BEIJING (Halbeeg News) – Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo on Friday met with leaders of Chinese companies and financing enterprises which are interested in investing in Somalia hours after Somalia-China trade deal.
Late Thursday, Somalia, and China jointly inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on enhancing trade activities between the two countries.
The agreement was to join the Belt and Road Initiative as well as an agreement on enhancing Economic and Technical Cooperation in Beijing.
Foreign Affairs Minister Ahmed Isse Awad and Commerce Mohamed Abdi Hayir signed the deal on behalf of the Federal Government of Somalia

A high-level delegation led by Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo is in Beijing for the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation summit scheduled to be held next week.
Beijing had made a positive contribution to Somalia in various fields including economic and social development to assist the country in acquiring political stability.
The Chinese government has built over 80 infrastructural projects like hospitals, stadiums, and roads to ease the burden of the Somali people.
Relations between Somalia and China commenced in 1960 after Somalia attained independence.
