President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo is expected to visit to Burundi, he is anticipated to discuss security and bilateral relations with his counterpart.
Farmajo who attended the Troops Contributing Countries’ summit in Uganda’s capital Kampala is proceeding to Bujumbura following official invitation from the government of Burundi.
The president held separate meeting with the vice president of Burundi, Gaston Sindimwo after the conclusion of the summit of troops contributing countries in Kampala.
The president’s visit comes a day after five Burundi soldiers were killed in an Al-shabab ambush attack near Balad, 30 kilometers North of Mogadishu, according to Burundi Deputy President who spoke to VOA.
Al-shabab said it had killed more than 20 AU soldiers, but Burundi military officials said that figure was exaggerated.
