MOGADISHU( Halbeeg News)- The president of federal republic of Somalia, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo sent congratulations to the newly elected prime minister of Pakistan Imran Khan.
“I congratulate Pakistan’s newly elected PM @ImranKhanPTI on his win today. Pakistan is vibrant that can fulfill it’s great potential for the benefit of its people. Somalia will work closely with the government of Pakistan in all our areas of mutual engagement” President Farmajo said in a tweet posted on his account.
Pakistani lawmakers have the elected former cricket star and longtime politician Imran Khan as the country’s next prime minister.
In the vote on Friday at the National Assembly, Khan secured 176 votes, defeating the opposition’s candidate, Shahbaz Sharif of the Pakistan Muslim League, who got 96 votes.
The new prime minister, Khan will be sworn in as the prime minister of Pakistan later on Saturday.
Somalia and Pakistan that are both members of Organization of Islamic Cooperation historically share strong bilateral relations.
