MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somali police have said Monday night explosion near a popular beach restaurant in Mogadishu has not caused casualties.
Zakia Hussein, Somali police deputy chief has confirmed the incident saying a car laden with explosives went off near Lido beach restaurant.
The car which parked exploded at around 6:30 p.m. local time, as per the police information.
Ms. Hussein said the blast did not kill or injure anyone.
“At the time of Iftar at 6:30 p.m., a Toyota filler vehicle went off near Liido beach roundabout in Mogadishu causing damages but no casualties,” Hussein said in a brief statement.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the blast, but al-Shabaab which lost the control of the city in 2011 has been carrying out deadly bomb blast.
The blast came barely six days after a car bomb detonated at a police checkpoint in Bondhere district leaving four people dead and 14 others injured.
